USFL / XFL merger details were officially announced. The Memphis Showboats will continue to play as announced at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. The spring season begins Saturday, March 30th. The Showboats finished last year at 5-5 under Head Coach Todd Haley. Haley is not returning in 2024. The league announced that New Orleans Breakers Head Coach John DeFillippo will be taking over as coach of the Showboats. The news was announced on ESPN’s Game Day with Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson. ARLINGTON, TX — — The United Football League, the premier spring football league, today announced the eight teams competing in its inaugural season kicking off on March 30, 2024. The League will be divided into two conferences: USFL and XFL.
