Chief C.J. Davis Retains Position As Interim Police Chief, Council Vote Tabled

The future of Memphis Police Chief C.J. Davis is now at a standstill as the City Council tabled the vote scheduled for Tuesday on whether to keep or replace her.

That means Davis, whose job as chief could have ended with the vote, will continue serving in an interim capacity until a vote is taken.

Until the next vote takes place, Davis remains. The tabled vote was brought on by Mayor Paul Young, who appointed her as interim chief.

No future voting date for the council was decided and it could take several weeks or months until the new date will be scheduled.
