Shelby County Clerk Wanda Halbert comes under fire again in the Shelby County Commissioners budget retreat on Saturday, January 27th. Unwillingness to report collection dollar amounts in a timely manner, is effecting county budgeting and future plans to budget the $750 million for Regional One Hospital project. County Trustee Regina Newman indicated that Halbert hasn’t submitted a signed and certified statement of the revenue since the beginning of fiscal year in July. “I can’t book what I don’t know” Regina Newman said. In November, the trustee issued an alert that Halbert hadn’t filed a monthly report since June of 2021. Wanda Halbert did not attend this year’s budget retreat.
