901 Comics was one of the latest local stores in Memphis to get busted into last weekend but it took a turn when the store owner decided to put on his cape and take matters into his own hands.
Shannon Merritt, a former Memphis Police Officer, apprehended the man accused of breaking into his three businesses and attempting to sell stolen items.
He talked to Jake Cook, host of the Nation of Jake afternoon show, and said the thief just walked by him as he was trying to gather information for the police and he knew that was his opportunity to get him before he could run.
“I just snatched him up, and just to be fair, I don’t suggest that people do this,” he said. “I had to drag him back to the parking lot and put him up against my car.”
They showed the police pictures of what the thief wore and sure enough, it matched what he was wearing right there. He was arrested shortly after.
