The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has charged an employee Tuesday after an alleged sexual encounter with an inmate at the county jail.
An investigation was launched after they recieved word that there may be an inmate having relations with a corrections officer. After an investigation, they identified and arrested Corrections Deputy Akira Jones.
She was placed under administrative leave without pay immmediately and charged with sexual conduct of prisoners.
“The SCSO will not tolerate the misconduct of any employee and will continue to hold our employees accountable to the highest ethical standards to ensure our public’s trust,” the Sheriff’s Office stated on a social media post.
