Major phone carriers like AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile have been experiencing widespread outages across the country.
The most problems have been with AT&T, with over 60,000 outages. Verizon and T-Mobile have both combined for about 5,000 outages.
Areas most affected are some of the largest US cities like Los Angeles, Houston, San Francisco and Chicago. There is no verifiable source of the outages reported yet.
For Memphians who require emergency services, Shelby County TN 911 District put out a social media post directing people how to navigate in this unique circumstance:
“AT&T Wireless is having an issue this morning nationwide. AT&T Wireless customers cannot make or receive Voice and Data Calls to and From Mobile, including 911 calls,” they said in the statement. “AT&T technical teams have taken steps to mitigate the issue and some services are beginning to be restored. It appears many Public Safety FirstNet customers have service and are able to make calls in the Shelby County TN area.”
