Memphis Tiger football head coach Ryan Silverfield has all but been contract extended officially, according to Athletic Director Laird Veatch.
On Monday, Veatch basically confirmed that the salary has been agreed upon and are just ironing out smaller details on the deal.
Silverfield was named head coach of the Tigers in December 2019, after three years of working in the team as an assistant coach.
This all comes after Silverfield led the Tigers to a 10-3 season, including an Autozone Liberty Bowl win over Iowa State last December.
He is looking to further advance his team in his fifth year of coaching by taking advantage of the new 12-team college football playoff format.
“I think going to the 12-team playoff is obviously an exciting thing for our program,” he said during his media conference last Wednesday.
