Many Memphians were abruptly woken up Tuesday morning to the booms of loud thunder followed by extremely heavy rain and lighting.
As a result, a few thousand across the city have been experiencing major power outages, at one point roughly over 35,000 customers.
The areas in Memphis hit the hardest have been Bartlett and the South West Memphis area.
This is all according to the MLGW power outage tracker that updates regularly.
Drivers who run into intersections with affected traffic lights are reminded by traffic officials to treat it as a four-way stop.
Troubleshooters with MLGW are currently in the hit areas restoring power.
