A Sea of Blue honoring the fallen MPD officer Joseph McKinney will occur this weekend following the announcement of his funeral and visitation proceedings.
McKinney, 26, was killed during a shootout last Friday that sparked after approaching a suspicious vehicle off of Horn Lake Road. One of the suspects, an 18-year-old, was also shot and killed.
The Sea of Blue will be held by officers at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday starting at Southland Mall and will course through the Westhaven area and concluding on Raines Road.
After the honoring of Officer McKinney, he will be laid to rest at Memorial Park after his visitation service at Hope Church.
