Memphis Police confirmed a 7-year-old boy had a loaded firearm in his backpack at his elementary school.
This all occurred at Evans Elementary School in Parkway Village on Friday morning. The boy was reportedly not trying to use it on other people, rather he was showing it off to other kids when he took it from his guardian.
The Department of Child Services took the boy into custody and police did recover the weapon.
There were no injuries or major situations outside of the confiscation of the gun.
There is still an investigation underway, no other information has been released.
