LOCAL | Former County Judge Sentenced To Two Days In Jail After Violating Plea Agreement

Former Shelby County judge Melissa Boyd violated her plea agreement and was subsequently sentenced on Wednesday to two days in jail.

Judge Bill Anderson Jr. came to the conclusion that she had violated her agreement of not making contact with Lashanta Rudd, her previous campaign manager, after pleading guilty of misdemeanor harassment.

Boyd resigned on April 2nd after allegations of drug and alcohol abuse following her May 2023 suspension from the bench for abusing substances.

Since being elected in 2022, she had been reprimanded several times for harassment, abuse of marijuana and cocaine, and soliciting money for a school.
