In the 114 years of history of The Boy Scouts of America, they have never changed their name until now after announcing they will become Scouting America.
This all follows the bankruptcy associated with claims of sexual abuse among the group and furthering its stance on inclusion.
The name was changed on Tuesday morning at its annual meeting in Florida.
Name change hasn’t been the only modifications placed. In 2013, gay scouts were allowed to join and two years later, they allowed gay adult leaders. Then in 2017, Boy Scouts announced that girls would be allowed into Cub Scouts the next year.
The name change to Scouting America will be going into affect on February 8, 2025, during its 115th birthday.
