Just as reported, major storms hit Memphis beginning around the midnight and early Thursday morning hours. Thousands have been affected by power outages as a result as MLGW crews are at work trying to restore power.
The number of customers without power hit over 5,000 by 1:30 a.m. As it stands during noon on Thursday, the number has dropped to 1,674.
MLGW has their power outage map available at all times, so customers can check the power status and location of affected regions.
They do warn for those using portable generators, to never use it indoors and to make sure that it is in a dry location. They also stress heavily to not use it to restore power to the whole house by plugging it in a wall outlet.
