It has been announced by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) that the I-55 Bridge will close for road construction on Sunday, June 9 at 8 p.m.
After being closed for two weeks, the bridge is anticipated to reopen on Sunday, June 23 at 8 p.m. There will be no traffic in either direction.
This closure is one of the bridge’s multiple scheduled closures that have occurred this year. In a press statement, the City of Memphis stated that TDOT workers will utilize the closure to finish their work on hydro demolishing and repairing decks.
The I-40 Bridge will be the most direct route between Memphis and Arkansas while the I-55 Bridge is closed.
