LOCAL | MSCS Superintendent Doubles Down On Email On Job Cuts

The superintendent of Memphis-Shelby County Schools, Dr. Marie Feagins claimed that an email concerning restructuring-related job losses was purposefully distributed to every district employee on Monday.

About 1,100 MSCS employment are impacted by reorganization, per that email. Currently, 41% of those are unoccupied.

Feagins stated that the details in the email corresponded to the transition strategies she had previously outlined in her 100-day plan, even before to her employment.

According to state assessments, 78% of pupils do not read effectively, 83% of students are not demonstrating proficiency in mathematics, and nearly a 15% dropout rate.

June 30 will be the scheduled last day for MSCS employees who plan to leave as a result.
