LOCAL | I-240 Shooting Leaves Four Children And An Adult Shot

Tuesday afternoon during rush hour, four children and a 30-year-old man were shot on Interstate 240 close to Poplar Avenue, according to the police.

Police pursued the two individuals and eventually found them in Raleigh. Five of the victims were seriously injured.

When police arrived to the scene, they discovered an abandoned Chevy Malibu with bullet holes on the interstate near the intersection of I-240 West and Poplar Avenue.

The four kids who were moved to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital are two, three, three, and eight years old. The adult male was taken to Regional One.

A previously stolen Mitsubishi was reported as the suspect getaway vehicle and was seen by police in the 2700 block of Germantown Parkway, it took off running south as they chased after it.

The police said that the suspects opened fire on the officers when the pursuit got to the James Road and Highland intersection.

The car chase ended in Frayser after the suspects crashed in a ditch and ran out of the vehicle until they were ultimately arrested by authorities.
