LOCAL | Assistant D.A. Of DeSoto Co. Resigns After Being “Visibly Intoxicated” In Court

The Assistant District Attorney from Desoto County is accused of contempt of court after showing up in court “visibly intoxicated.”

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, 56-year-old Thomas Waller was taken into custody and taken into the Desoto County Jail.

According to reports, Waller interfered with the court’s work by arguing incoherently and having a noticeable alcohol stench on his breath.

The judge imposed an 11-day prison sentence and a $100 fine on him. On Friday, he was freed at around 1 a.m.

As a result, Waller quit his position Friday morning.
