A notable former Memphis Tiger is on the move to his third NBA team in three years after two brief stints didn’t pan out in his young career so far.
James Wiseman, who the Golden State Warriors selected with the second overall pick in 2020, has agreed to a free agent contract with the Indiana Pacers.
He was Coach Penny Hardaway’s first recruit to Memphis in 2019, the most coveted high-school recruit at that time.
Before being traded to Detroit at the trade deadline of the previous year, Wiseman’s tenure at Golden State was cut short by injury.
Before being cut by the Pistons, Wiseman averaged seven points and six rebounds in his lone NBA season.
Wiseman receives a two-year contract and an additional opportunity in Indiana. The Pacers are coming fresh off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance in the playoffs.
