LOCAL | Memphis Woman Attempts To Burn Down Duplex After Being Evicted

Six children were inside a duplex when a mother tried to set it on fire after being evicted, according to Memphis Police.

The charges against Blanche Coe, 61, are Vandalism $1,000 or Less and Aggravated Arson. Officers were called to a duplex in the 3200 block of Macon Road on Wednesday due to an incident.

They were informed by a maintenance man that Coe had been evicted and that everything she owned had been thrown on the curb. It was when he was replacing the locks that Coe allegedly began to cause trouble.

As Coe had six children inside her house, the neighbor reportedly tackled her to prevent her from setting the duplex on fire. He allegedly held her till the arrival of police officials.

Officers arrived on the scene and took an empty gas can and lighter fluid.
