Memphis municipal officials have opened an emergency cooling center.
On Monday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Hospitality Hub located at 590 Washington Avenue will be available to provide relief from the intense heat.
The cooling center’s purpose is to serve as a makeshift haven for people who need to get away from the heat and humidity.
It is not meant to take the place of a shelter’s services.
