NATIONAL | Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle Resigns

Kimberly Cheatle, the Secret Service director since August 2022, has announced her resignation in a memo following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

This all comes after her first hearing day where multiple lawmakers from both sides of the isle grilled her for the lack of accountability and judgement on the day of the shooting.

This is hands-down the most powerful and relevant exchange of the entire hearing from @RepPatFallon

Cheatle stated in her resignation letter that she took the difficult decision to leave the agency and did not want her departure to distract agents from their job.

There have been bipartisan calls in Congress for Cheatle’s resignation, as well as a drive by Republican lawmakers to impeach her.
