NATIONAL | Mattel Introduces Blind Barbie To Expand Inclusivity

The toy company Mattel has introduced the first-ever blind Barbie as part of a new initiative to broaden the iconic doll’s appeal and have it represent different societal groups.

This Barbie has sunglasses on her head and a white and red cane.

When sales of the iconic toy toyed with declining numbers in 2016, Mattel launched a more inclusive Barbie range with a variety of body types.

The company unveiled the Barbie Fashionistas range a few years ago which included dolls with wheelchairs, prosthetic legs, hearing aids, and the skin ailment vitiligo.
