An attorney submitted a petition to remove Shelby County Clerk Wanda Halbert last month for “willful neglect to her duties”.
Halbert, according to the county attorney’s office, did not respond to their complaint in a timely manner.
Her legal representative has been advocating for her continued employment by submitting a move to have the case dismissed.
The county attorney’s office is requesting Halbert’s instant dismissal as a default judgment as a result.
On September 13, both parties are anticipated in court for a hearing on the case.
