LOCAL | 2 Former MPD Officers In Tyre Nichols Case Released, Placed On House Arrest Until Sentencing

While they await sentencing, two of the former Memphis Police officers found guilty of federal offenses connected to Tyre Nichols’ death were released from federal detention.

On Monday, Tadarrius Bean and Justin Smith were released after being found guilty of obstructing justice in the federal case pertaining to Tyre Nichols’s death.

Demetrius Haley, however, will stay detained until he receives sentencing.

Smith and Bean will be under house arrest until January 2025, when all three will get their sentences.
