The FBI’s Memphis field office is being relocated to Nashville, where it will be replaced with a smaller “resident agency.”
FBI Memphis’ X page posted on September 30, that it would take effect on October 1.
The reorganization will close the field offices in Memphis and Knoxville, leaving the state with nine resident agencies and one field office in Nashville.
According to Wray, the move is strategic in that it should them to increase the number of agents who will be assigned to the Memphis office, considering the surging amount of violent crime.
