The Halls community gathered Tuesday evening to commemorate the life of a 22-year-old medical student, Ellie Young.
She died tragically after being shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend on Saturday.
Organizers, including Ellie’s old teachers and sister-in-law, held a vigil within Critchfield Park’s tennis courts. It all ended around 7:30 p.m.
Jackson Hopper of Tiptonville, Tennessee is currently being held at 201 Poplar facing a first degree murder charge.
The affidavit reported that she arrived just after noon in a Jeep Wrangler and was being followed by Hopper in a Honda CRV with a temporary tag issued in Kentucky.
Upon parking, Hopper allegedly fired multiple shots at her when she got out of the Jeep and then fired one more while she lay on the ground.
