The 22-year-old medical student who was shot and killed at Shelby Farms last week will be laid to rest by her family.
The funeral service for Ellie Young will take place at First United Methodist Church in Ripley, TN on Saturday at 1 p.m. The visitation will be held Friday from 4-8 p.m.
The Halls community gathered Tuesday evening to commemorate the life of a 22-year-old medical student, Ellie Young, with a candlelight vigil.
Young was shot by her ex-boyfriend Jackson Hopper, 26, at Shelby Farms Park’s First Horizon Foundation Visitor Center shortly before 12:20 p.m.
Hopper faces a first-degree murder charge. In Tipton County, Jackson Hopper is also charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault, reckless driving, and possessing a firearm while committing a dangerous felony.
District Attorney Steve Mulroy is pushing for Hopper to not be granted bond.
“Due to the severity of this case, our office has requested that no bond be granted pending a hearing,” Mulroy said in a social media post addressing the case.
