LOCAL | Man Arrested After 12-Hour Standoff With Police and Shooting At Them, Released Without Bail

According to court documents, the man who locked himself in his car for more than twelve hours in a police standoff was released on his own recognizance.

Following a bond hearing with Judge Bill Anderson on Tuesday, Christopher Smith was released. Among the numerous felony allegations against Smith are three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Smith rolled down his car window and asked police if they wanted to die as they arrived at the scene. As the suspect drove away, he shot at law enforcement.

After following Smith back to his house on Lakeview Road, the cops gave him the order to exit his vehicle. Smith declined, instead circling the property in the automobile and locking himself inside without getting out.

On the morning of November 11, shortly after 8:00, Smith was arrested.

On December 3, Smith will appear in court for a psychiatric assessment.
