A Memphis Police officer was discovered unconscious in Downtown Memphis today.
Officers received a call and made it to North Main Street and Adams where officer Charles Cathey was discovered unconscious.
After being brought to a nearby hospital, he was declared deceased.
According to preliminary data, Cathey’s death was caused by a medical emergency.
MPD stated he was a 37-year veteran of the department.
