The “State of the District” speech scheduled for next week was canceled by the Memphis-Shelby County School District.
The speech was initially planned for January 29, 2025, and Dr. Marie Feagins was expected to provide an update on the district’s progress and prospects.
After multiple board members presented accusations against the former MSCS Superintendent, the school board voted to remove Dr. Feagins on Tuesday evening.
Dr. Roderick Richmond was chosen by the board to serve as the acting superintendent.
The district promised to provide an update on the “State of the District” at a later date.
