The “Tennessee Education Freedom Act of 2025,” which expands school vouchers statewide, was approved by the Tennessee House of Representatives following a four-day special session and hours of discussions.
The measure describes how parents may apply for almost $7,000 in public taxpayer-funded “scholarships” to send their kids to private schools in the state.
The Senate is still debating the issue. The measure would go to Governor Lee for his signature if it passed the Senate.
This week, President Donald Trump issued an executive order that prioritizes support for school choice initiatives and frees up federal funds.
