LOCAL | Weekend Shooting At UofM Area Bar Leaves 19-Year-Old Girl Injured

Early on Sunday morning, a shooting outside a bar in the University of Memphis area injured a young woman.

Officers arrived at Baptist East shortly before 1:30 a.m. after learning that a 19-year-old had been shot and taken to the hospital.

According to MPD, a group of people were verbally insulted while they were exiting Rooster’s Blues House on South Highland Street. A woman in the group was allegedly grabbed by a male, and the two got into a physical altercation outside the bar.

As the group tried driving away from the incident, they were shot at.

Just one of the six members of the group was hit. The woman was transported in non-critical condition to Baptist East.

There have been no arrests. The investigation is still under progress.
