White Station Middle School 7th grade principle, Marcus Mathews was arrested Monday after Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies came to the school to meet with him. Reports show Mathews has been indicted on a charge of aggravated rape and is held on $100,000 bond.
Memphis-Shelby County Schools released this statement –
“Memphis-Shelby County Schools is aware that Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies visited White Station Middle School on Monday to meet with a school staff member who was escorted from the building and later placed under arrest. The Sheriff’s Department has not released details of the charges leading to the arrest, but this incident does not appear to be related to immigration enforcement. The District has placed the staff member on investigative leave until more information becomes available. The safety of students and staff remains our top priority.”
