Memphis Police reported that a crash on Interstate 40 Friday morning resulted in the death of an 8-month-old baby.
According to officials, they responded to a major collison involving three vehicles on I-40 West, located between Appling Road and Whitten Road.
That part of the interstate was closed at that time. The collision involved many vehicles, one of which was found on its side.
MPD says an 8-month-old infant was transported to Le Bonheur in critical condition but subsequently passed away to their injuries.
In addition, four adults were transported to local hospitals; their condition was not critical.
