After being struck by a motorist traveling the wrong way on I-269 on Tuesday, a DeSoto County sheriff’s deputy is now recuperating.
According to DeSoto County Sheriff Thomas Tuggle, Deputy Brian Brock saw the wrong-way driver and pulled his car in front of her. The car nearly avoided hitting multiple vehicles.
54-year-old Tracy Balton was recognized by the Mississippi Highway Patrol as the driver.
Brock placed himself on the shoulder of I-269, and absorbed the brunt of the crash head-on, and was transported to Regional One Hospital. Since then, he has been released and is recuperating at home.
Balton was charged of felony fleeing a law enforcement official and was taken into custody at the DeSoto County Jail on Tuesday.
