The Memphis-Shelby County School (MSCS) board has finalized Dr. Roderick Richmond’s contract as temporary superintendent.
The $325,000 yearly salary that Dr. Richmond will receive will be equal to that of his predecessor, Dr. Marie Feagins, who was fired earlier this year. The 18-month contract expires in July 2026.
Formal accountability measures like performance gauges and a mid-year evaluation are also part of the contract.
Dr. Richmond’s contract also includes health insurance, 30 paid vacation days, and the use of a district-owned car.
Since January, when Dr. Feagins was controversially removed from office, Dr. Richmond has been acting as the temporary superintendent.
Regarding the nationwide search for a permanent superintendent, the district has not provided an update or timetable.
