Towanna Murphy, a member of the Memphis Shelby County School Board, claims she is not apologetic for threatening to deport a Hispanic woman who called her derogatory names and attacked her work on the school board.
The messages were made public on Facebook, but everything took place in private messaging.

Murphy claimed that the woman’s usage of the “b-word” in her inbox at the time angered her.
She added that although the woman had no right to speak to her in that way, she did not threaten her. Murphy has also expressed her belief that she, and not the other woman, should be the one to apologize.
The school board member said that over the last three months, she received lots of threats in her inbox but typically blocks the person who sent it.
According to the anonymous woman, she intends to complain to the school district and the police.
