LOCAL | Six Disabled Passengers Found Living In A Bus In Cruel Conditions; Woman Arrested On Multiple Charges

The Memphis Police Department arrested and charged a woman after discovering three goats and several disabled people living inside a bus.

When police arrived to the Goodyear store on Union Avenue on Tuesday morning, they found a yellow bus with a trailer that had three live goats.

MPD said the group was traveling from Texas to Virginia at the time.

Officers found a driver and six passengers inside the bus; five of them had intellectual disabilities, and one had dementia.

In addition to lacking food and running water, the six passengers were living in unlivable and cruel conditions.

According to MPD, all six individuals displayed symptoms of malnourishment and were dressed in filthy clothes.
Bernice Jarrett, 61, was arrested by officers on six charges of neglecting a vulnerable adult.
