LOCAL | ‘Enough Is Enough’ – Mayor Paul Young Releases Statement On Deadly Tom Lee Park Shooting

Gunshots near Tom Lee Park on Sunday evening left one teenager dead and many park visitors shaken.

According to Memphis Police, officers were called to a shooting incident at Riverside Drive and Beale Street around 6:46 p.m,  around the same time the Foodee Fest food truck festival was winding down.

Police discovered a shooting victim who they determined was deceased at the scene.  They also said the victim and suspect were both teenagers, aged between 15 to 18.

On Monday morning, Memphis Mayor Paul Young said in a statement, “Enough is enough. Our riverfront is meant to be a place of joy, connection, and community… The reckless violence carried out during a community event shattered that purpose. Let me be clear: we will pursue prosecution of this crime – and all violent crimes – to the fullest extent of the law.”

No suspects have been arrested at this time, updates will follow.
