It seems Cyber Monday is now the ideal gift shopping method across America but with a record-breaking year of crime in Memphis, it may be the only option.
Another violent holiday weekend of crime leaving six killed and fifteen injured means this is only the tip of the iceberg as the December shopping rush is approaching.
Given the amount of car break-ins and thefts in 2023, the final month could statistically be the worst yet. This month, Memphis was ranked #4 in National Insurance Crime Bureau’s list of cities with the most vehicle thefts.
Jake Cook, radio host for the Nation of Jake believes that despite a demand for shopping in stores even in the digital age, the demand for not becoming another crime statistic will always be greater.
“Touching and feeling is still very important in the shopping experience,” he said. “Now you got to figure, well now the game changes. What is the real cost of crime around the holidays?”
