By now Tigers fans have heard the news they were waiting for- YES. Memphis City Council pushed and pulled at one another for or against (Martavious Jones) the deal orchestrated by the Strickland administration to transfer Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium to the University of Memphis. The 9-1-0 vote in favor of the transfer has yet to be finalized in the minutes. Until the meeting minutes are finalized, the question is, can a player against the transfer still step forward to force some sort of change or stop the transfer? Council got what they wanted, a suite of their own at the newly renovated stadium and the right to buy it back for $1 in the event the U of M decides to build an on campus stadium or just get out from under the costs of managing SBLS. When do the construction cranes start going up?
