As of 11am Monday, 99.95% of MLGW customers had electricity. With up to 5 inches of snow and sub zero temperatures, the power grid is holding up thus far. One of Doug McGowen’s first big priorities after being appointed as President of the utility, was to catch up on the outdated tree trimming throughout the county. This week’s storm is putting that plan to the test. So far, so good.
MLGW may issue an energy conservation alert. This would help to prevent the rolling blackouts experienced last year. Customers could be asked to not use large electric appliances, turn off electric space heaters and don’t plug in electric vehicles.
“Together, we can all make a real difference,” MLGW President Doug McGowen said Monday.
