Marc Gasol, former center for the Memphis Grizzlies, has announced his official retirement from professional basketball through a video posted on his X account.
On his retirement video, he captioned the post saying “End of a chapter. Thank you.”
In his chapter as a Memphis Grizzlies fan-favorite, he was named an NBA All-Star three times, named to two All-NBA teams, won a Defensive Player of the Year and even led the Grizzlies to their only conference finals appearance that same year in 2013.
In 2019, he was ultimately traded to the Toronto Raptors and ended up winning an NBA Championship.
The Memphis Grizzlies announced the day after trading Gasol that they will hang his No. 33 jersey in the rafters of the FedEx Forum.
