Memphis Police responded to a call at Invictus Academy of students reportedly “digesting an unknown substance” which turned out to be THC gummies.
Four kids had to be taken to the hospital Tuesday in non-critical condition. There were several other students who also digested the gummies but did not require medical care.
Police said some of the students knew the gummies were laced, while others did not.
Memphis Shelby County Schools released the following statement,
“This unfortunate incident is being handled according to District policy and state law. Please join us in reminding our children the importance of good decision-making. We encourage parents to talk with their children about the importance of only accepting food from trusted sources and in recognizable packaging, whether at school or elsewhere. Our top priority remains the safety and well-being of our students and staff.”
