TRAVEL | Memphis International Expecting Peak Traffic For Spring Break Flyers

Memphis International Airport is expecting peak traffic with travelers in the upcoming spring break season.

They are projecting between 40,000 and 50,000 flyers between the dates of March 7-11 and strongly recommending that passengers arrive early.

At least two hours before the departure time is what most major airports recommend and especially so for flyers who are scheduled for early morning travel.

Already in the first two months of this 2024, Memphis International announced they have had over 369,000 travelers pass through the TSA checkpoint, 17,000 more than January and February 2023.

Below are the Passenger Travel Tips posted by Memphis International on their website:

  • MEM recommends that travelers arrive at the airport a minimum of TWO HOURS before their scheduled departure time.
  • Prior to coming to the airport, passengers can also save time by checking in online via their airline’s website.
  • Passengers should check directly with their airlines to monitor schedules.
  • Airlines rather than the airport are responsible for all aspects of ticketing, scheduling, gate operations and baggage handling. Check with your airline if you have questions about these subjects.
  • MEM parking lots are likely to reach capacity during peak travel days. When this occurs, additional signage will be added, and additional parking staff will help direct drivers to available parking spots. MEM has added nearly 300 parking spaces ahead of Spring Break.
  • For convenience, drivers parking in the blue or yellow lots may want to drop off luggage and other passengers at the terminal before parking.
  • Shuttles are operating between the blue and yellow parking lots and the terminal.
