LOCAL | Parts Of The Mid-South Hit By Minor 3.8 Earthquake Thursday Morning

An earthquake with a reported magnitude of 3.8 was confirmed by the United States Geological Survey.

It occurred in the northern part of Dyer County early Thursday morning around 3 a.m.

Although a weak magnitude for an earthquake, it can still be felt from distances further than the epicenter. Towns as far up north in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and even as south as some parts of Memphis felt a small trembling as a result.

This also comes after smaller earthquakes in parts of Northwest Tennessee and Missouri in April.

In Tennessee, it read 2.1 on the Richter Scale, which isn’t enough to cause damage or even feel in most cases. In Missouri, it was a slight increase on the scale at 2.4.
