Plans for improvements to the Memphis Zoo are moving forward after their announcement on Monday.
The zoo will be improving the facilities for the Africa portion first, as their 20-year plan will be done in phases with investments up to $250 million.
As per the zoo, they believed starting with the Africa exhibit first was crucial because they stated that what they currently have is outdated and does not have the sufficient space for specific animals like giraffes, elephants and hyenas.
Also part of their new plans, they are expecting to construct a Great Lawn, a Stingray touch experience and a Soaring Eagle ride experience.
June 3 is the date where these projects will undergo construction.
