Dr. Marie Feagins, the superintendent of Shelby County Schools in Memphis, received a death threat over the phone, according to the police.
Feagins’ brother received a phone call threatening to harm his sister, so he called Memphis police.
Later, Homeland Security was alerted to look into the issue more thoroughly.
Feagins stated she is fine and doesn’t think her life is in danger during a press appearance on Tuesday. She conveyed her gratitude to Homeland Security for acting quickly to handle the matter.
A strategic plan for the school district will be developed by a transition committee led by Dr. Feagins, who stated in recent weeks that certain workers will have their employment and salaries changed as part of the district’s reorganization.
