LOCAL | Carjacking Suspect Released Without Bond After Police Chase And Shootout

The man who had been captured and arrested in relation to a carjacking that resulted in a police chase and gunfight was released from custody without posting a bond on Wednesday.

Tadarius Nichols, 25, was accused of driving a stolen vehicle on Monday with his friend, Tremayne French, 26, sitting in the passenger seat.

The suspects exited the Charger at the intersection of Frayser Boulevard and Adair Drive, and ran on foot when police attempted to pull them over.

Police have claimed that one of the suspects fired rounds at officers as they were being chased. Police opened fire again, hitting French.

French was pronounced decease at the scene. A short chase resulted in the capture of Nichols.
