Just before 10 p.m. on Thursday, a large fire closed off a portion of Interstate 55 near the Valero refinery.
An 18-wheeler carrying over 8 thousand gallons of gasoline was involved in a collision that led it to overturn and catch fire, according to the Memphis Fire Department.
Firefighters started rescue efforts as soon as they arrived. The incident did not result in any injuries.
As authorities continue to clear the site, drivers near I-55 and Mallory can anticipate delays until further notice.
